Box
(Virtual Production)

Mooresville Community Children's Theatre | 2020

By
Lindsay Price

Box is a vignette theatre for youth play about navigating the halls of middle school and the boxes that we find ourselves in. There are countless different ways to identify yourself and your box. Boxes built for us by others can seem restricting and uncomfortable. A small wooden box, a shiny jewelry box, a week old pizza box, none of these can define us!

True identity is found when we think outside the box.

"Under the direction of Chloe Wright, the cast did an AMAZING job with this virtual rendition of our play. If you are planning an online production in the near future, their video offers some great ideas on how to produce an engaging, digital show."

Blocking in the box

Getting creative within the virtual shot.

This show became a virtual production due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Blocking for this show required me to create a sort of storyboard to know what kind of shots we needed.

We had three filming set-ups in our playhouse. Each actor had separate filming sessions. With me on book, they had to react as if their scene partners were right beside them when it was really just me reading their lines.
